Be Grateful ~ Be Great!

“Gratitude is not only the greatest of virtues, but the parent of all the others.” Cicero

I’m thinking that this year, to get us all in the mood for Thanksgiving, maybe we can look at our community in Real Estate and all the things for which we can be thankful and find ways to have an “attitude of gratitude”.

Remember why you got in the business. Tap into your enthusiasm and optimism and let those things shape your outlook.

Listen to yourself- how you talk to people and how you talk to yourself. Negative talk brings negative actions and re-actions. Positive talk is like a magnet, people are drawn to it!

Get a gratitude partner- find someone who will give you honest feedback, keep you accountable and remind you of your goal to keep a positive attitude. Try to get someone who will compliment you too, not just criticize.

Give something back- remember that what you put out there is what you get back from others. Create a helpful, giving atmosphere around you and it will spread!

Write a thank you note. And send it! You should do this at least once a week. Some people start each day by doing this. It jump starts the gratitude spirit and sets the tone for a good day!

Make a Thank You visit. Do you have a client that you haven’t checked in with for awhile? Stop and pick up a potted mum, or some pumpkin bread and stop by for a visit. Let them know that you’ve been busy, but that they have been on your mind. Don’t stay long, just remind yourself how much you love your work and remind them how much they love you!!

Thank yourself! Make a list of all the things you have accomplished or positive things in your life that you are thankful for. It’s nearly impossible to be negative when you’re feeling gratitude.

Make a plan for next year. We tend to feel more negative when we feel lost. Make a plan to keep you on track and focused on what you want to achieve for the year and you won’t get lost.

Pray. If you look at the world with a thankful heart, you’ll realize that your blessings are all around and mostly unacknowledged. You just closed a tough deal, made a new contact/friend, witnessed a beautiful sunset, kissed a baby. Take a moment, say a prayer of thanksgiving and enjoy!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
